Jay Brown was born and raised in France and didn’t start djing until his early twenties. While growing up in France, his musical taste was more orientated towards funk, RnB and hip hop and was an active break dancer in his teen. Dancing is still today a big part of his style as he can’t stop moving while djing.
He moved to England when he was 19 years old and started playing at friends parties and having a go at the decks. From then on he bought himself music whenever the tunes where groovy enough for his taste. At that time anything went…. house, hip hop ,soul, funk even reggae.
At the age of 23 and with his skills tuned up he moved to Trondheim, Norway where he was offered a residency at a club called BANZARA and also in BOLLYWOOD. Through his residency Jay was able to get gigs all around the Trondheim clubs circuit. A year later he decided to move to Oslo where the scene was more appealing. Over there he got residencies in AFRO INTERNATIONAL weekly house jams, SOULTRAIN, BARONEN BARONESSEN had gigs in BAROCK, HEAD ON and played in DAYTONA in Goteborg and had his own private parties in the GLASS HOUSE in Stockholm.
After a quick return to London and a lay off of 1 year working for AIR FRANCE and traveling the world, Jay got the dj bug running through his veins once again and decided to move to Tokyo. Although, Japanese crowd love harder music , he got a residency in GOLDEN GATE which was notorious as the maddest club in Tokyo Roppongi. Also club TANTRA and weekly in QUEST both in Roppongi …… And let’s not forget the parties in CLUB ASIA in Shibuya and PYLON in Ropponggi.
After a little bit more than a year, and upon hearing that eastern Europe was big on electronic music Jay decided to move closer to home in Prague. In Prague, jay played in the major clubs of the city including: MECCA resident, ROXY, RADOST FX(HYPERLINK “http://www.radostfx.cz/”www.radostfx.cz), DUPLEX resident, NAÏF resident, STUDIO54 resident, LE CLAN resident, GEJZEER, INDUSTRY55, KARLOVY LAZNE, CHATEAU, DOWNTOWN CAFE, NEBE resident, M1resident and also DEPO9 in OLOMOUC, club VYHLIDKA in BRNO, club CHEVIGNON in ZNOJMO, club PALUBA in SOBESLAV and club GARAGE in TABOR. Jay also played on the MYSTIC CUP open air party, LETENSKY ZAMECEK open air party and he also played live on air on EUROPA2 EXTRAVAGANZA radio show by popular demands (3 times), EXTACY RADIO SHOW on FAJN RADIO and once on KISS FM.
While in eastern Europe Jay also managed to jam from SLOVAKIA twice (Nitra and Galanta) to MINSK (Belarus) club NIGHTSTAR and also twice in VILNIUS (Lithuania) HELIOS club, TERMINAL club (HYPERLINK where the party were rocking!!!!…….. Also, while in Prague, Jay went to a few casting so if you are lucky, you can probably see him on a SONY VEGA, SAMSUNG or MASTERCARD EURO2004 commercial.
But Jay needed a challenge so after 18months in Czech Republic, he decided to move on, first Tokyo for 5months where he held a residency in SHEESHA and Tantra, while in Tokyo he was booked to play on the Tantra Summer boat cruise party. djs, playboy bunnies, music, food and alcohol….what a crazy combination!!!!
Then Jay moved to Sydney Australia for 3 months to taste the OZ scene and then back to Tokyo again for another well deserved 3 months. After all this traveling and fun, Jay finally moved to Beijing, China, in june 2005. Many people would ask why? but the important question is….WHY NOT?? MUSIC HAS NO BOUNDARIES or NO COLOR.
Jay played in some few clubs in the city including: club ANGEL, club INNER AFFAIR , KAI club, TOP club, club LIVEHOUSE, club SEVEN, ZING club, D POWER RED LOUNGE and APPLEKING……….. but also twice in club FOCUS in Lanzhou, MAX club in Hangzhou, CINDERELLA club in JINAN, CATWALK club in Guangzhou, club HONG FANG QU in Kuerle, club MAISHA, club BANANA, club FACE and club 2046 in Dalian, club MUSE in Taiyuan, club SEVEN and BABI club in Tianjin, club SEVEN in SHIJIAZHUANG, KDL18 club in Yinchuan,club BABI in Guangzhou and club in Harbin .
In april 2006 JAY went on a 2months China tour visiting 28cities, it was both a blast and an unforgivable experience…… After visiting so many beautiful places and jamming for so many people, Jay decided to move to Shanghai in june 2006 were he realized that there was much more happening there than in Beijing.
Jay rocked the Shanghai clubs scene such as MINT(resident),PARK97 CALIFORNIA and Lux, BAR ROUGE, WYNN WIN club opening party, DE LA COAST (/www.delacoast.com), JADE36 (resident), DRAGON club, BARBBLE after-hour club (resident), UNDERLOUNGE club and played for the LANCOME party, BMW party in MIMOSA and played at the opening party of the famous SILVANO LATTANZI store opening in Shanghai. at its height, Jay was resident in 3 Sahnghai clubs MINT club, JADE36 and BARBBLE afters, bringing his flavor to the shanghainese partygoers.
A new era has come as Jay decided to move to ARGENTINA to look for more challenges and that latin flavor….so look around in Buenos Aires and you might catch a glimpse of this crazy French dj. Jay rocked such clubs as: CROBAR, PACHA, PALACIO ALSINA (now renamed State), SUNSET, CLUB69, OPERA BAY, BAHREIN, MUSEUM, LE CLICK,SHAMROCK but also PACHA in Bariloche, INFIERNO club in Cordoba, DORIAN GRAY club in Cordoba, BUT MITRE club in Cordoba (now renamed Feel), MARIA LOPES club in Cordoba, BLUE DOOR in Cordoba, KAITEK club in Ushaia, DIABLO club in Mendoza, OSA club in Mendoza, ROUGE lounge in Mendoza, PINAR DE ROCHA in Ramos de Meija, MDM club in Rosario, SOHO club in Rosario, BIG BANG club in San Miguel, PETECOS club in Lomas de Zamora, TOKYO club in Bahia Blanca, PAJABRAVAS club in Bahia Blanca, ZAZUEIRA BEACH in Corrientes, CHOCOLATE club in Mar Del Plata, CHICO club in San Bernardo, FACE club in San Bernardo, DUENDE club in San Bernardo, MOLINO ROJO club in Carlos Paz, QUINOTO club in Villa Maria, RANCHO CUCAMONGA club in Puerto Madryn, BLOKE COMPLEJO in Neuquen, SUPERCLUB in Neuquen, ZION club in Neuquen, CITY RANCH in Lujan, SKY club in Santa Rosa la pampa and also such festivals as DANCEPARK in Neuquen, ELECTROMISTICA in Ushuaia and Rio Grande and REPLAY NIGHTS for the NEW YEAR and XMAS parties in Santiago del Estero.(my apologies to any club I may have forgotten)
