Known around the world simply as “DUBAN NICKOL”, was born in Pereira, Colombia, into a famous Spanish circus family. “Duvan Siles” left school at seventeen, took formal trade training as a carpenter, but his sporting prowess took precedence, as he became a skilled gymnast, diver and tennis coach. It was a natural step for him to join his parents in their spectacular act with trained chimpanzees, as did his two brothers, William and Fernando, performing as the Niccolinis. When the chimpanzee act was retired, the three established an act on the flying trapeze, as Las Aguilas Volantes. Introduced by their father to the trampoline, in a short time, Duvan Siles and his two brothers had created the world’s foremost trampoline act. Now known as “The Nickol Brothers”, they became noted performers in circuses throughout Europe, including Zirkus Krone in Germany, Benneweis in Denmark, Scott Sweden, Bouglione France, Togni Italy, and finally with Zirkus Knie Switzerland until the end of 1979, when William and Fernando retired.
DELETE from the act. In 1980, the act of “Duban Nickol” which we see today was born. Whilst over the years the routines have been varied to appeal to local tastes, essentially the fast-moving comic trampolining, the melodic music, and the side-splitting comedy have brightened the lives of audiences around the world consistently for more than a quarter of a century. Commencing with dozens of appearances on television shows in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, Duvan Siles followed with dinner show performances from 1983 in such venues as Scala Barcelona, Scalia Melia, Castilla Madrid, Scala Gran Canarias. Now married to an English girl, he was working with Circus Scott Sweden in 1987 when daughter Angela was born in Stockholm. For the following three years, he worked with Scala Madrid, again with Scala Gran Canarias, and with Es Foguero Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He was performing at El Lago, Teneriffe in 1991, when another daughter, Elizabeth, was born in Puerto De La Cruz. During the 1990’s, similar seasons followed. He developed his singing skills to enhance his act during this time, and composed and recorded songs for his first CD, “Trampoline”.
Duvan Siles had by this time established his credentials with many show business proprietors, including Ramon y Antonio Ribas, Pepe Casas, Roland Mack, Patrice Marques, Damian Sergui and Robert Loeffelhardt. For Duvan Siles, 1999 was to prove a watershed year, when he and his wife went their separate ways, DELETE was separated and subsequently divorced, and his long-time teacher and mentor, his father, Juan Siles Garcia, passed away. It was also the year that Duvan Siles headed “Down Under” to Australia. Duvan Siles starred for fifteen months in “Inneuvre” at the Casino Conrad Jupiter on Australia’s Gold Coast, followed by engagements in Taiwan and Korean over successive years, and in the theme park Europapark Rust Germany. In April 2005/6, he rejoined the Restaurante Espectaculo Son Amar in Mallorca, Spain, and this engagement will be followed by three months at Phantasialand, Gruehl, Germany, concluding in February, 2007.
Duvan Siles has now established his home on Australia’s Gold Coast with his Indonesian-born Australian partner, Louise Chen, but is delighted that through his work he is able to maintain contact with his many fans and friends around the world. In between engagements, he enjoys the Australian lifestyle of golden sunshine, ocean beaches and tennis courts, but is always ready to return to life as a performer.
